Community Fund DrivesOverview & History of the CFD Committee
The Community Fund Drives Committee (CFD) was established in 1975 by the Erie Conference in cooperation with the United Way of Erie County. In 2004 CFD was re-established as an independent community committee under the sponsorship of the Erie Community Foundation, United Way of Erie County and the Erie Regional Chamber & Growth Partnership. The committee acts as a “review and recommend” body that sets a calendar of endorsed fund drives and assists non-profits in preparing a successful campaign thereby balancing the capital needs of our community against the finite resources available.
The committee is comprised of a chairman, one representative from each of the three sponsoring agencies, two members selected by each sponsoring agency and one member from the Association of Fundraising Professionals NW PA Chapter. The committee will also invite up to three community “at large” members who have demonstrated historical involvement in philanthropy throughout the community. Strategy Solutions, Inc. has been selected to provide administrative support to the Committee and assist organizations during the business plan development phase.
